Tribe- Town
The river was cool and gave the group some fresh water. After taking a nice drink of water, Froggy turned to Leo.
“So how are we going to get to town?” he asked. Leo was thinking.
“We should find a map first of all,” he replied. “But we have to use our memory to find town.” Nass checked the supplies they had. He said that they were running low. Leo checked the amount of money they earned from defeating monsters. “We have enough for some food and potions. Maybe some bandages too.” Reve walked over to him.
“How about we repair our clothes, armor, and weapons?” she said. “They took a beating from the battle and surviving the creatures in the forest.” He looked up at her.
“There’s no blacksmith in the town we’re going to,” he said. She frowned.
---
A child looked up at the five figures walking into town. The figures walked by, one greeting the boy. At the local grocery store Guo, Nass, and Froggy sat on a bench, waiting for Leo and Reve to return.
“We should buy a chunk of meat,” Leo tells Reve, “in Erinn they never went bad. I know a spell that’ll preserve it.” She looked doubtful.
“I dunno… Meat is pretty much fat,” she replied. “We should buy some strawberries or something.” He sighed.
“I’m going to get the others,” he tells her. “You’re not going to break something, will you?” He walked outside and asked the others to come in and choose some food to buy. In the end, they bought some bread, meat, fruit, and water.
“OK, next we have to buy a map,” Nass said. Leo nodded.
“We’ll also need some bottles to carry water,” he says. “The general store might supply both items.” Reve, Guo, and Froggy waited outside the store, with Froggy telling jokes that Reve and Guo didn’t find funny one bit. Reve looked around bored, and saw a familiar figure in the distance. She started to get up.
“Guys, do you see that guy?” she asks.
“Yeah I see Guo, what’s it to you?” Froggy started to chuckle. Reve came over and slammed her fist on top of his head. “Ow, what the hell was that for?”
“That guy looked a lot like a Talomesm,” she tells him.
“Impossible,” he replies. “You, me, Guo, and those two idiots over there are the last Talomesms, beside the Elder, alive!” He got another punch on the head.
“Who were you calling idiots?” Leo asked.
“I was talking about Reve and Guo!” Froggy exclaimed, before getting another hit on the head. “I’ll shut up now.” He takes out an apple and takes a bite out of it.
“You saw a man that looked like a Talomesm?” Leo asked Reve.
“Yeah he’s over… Oh. He must have left.”
“Well it’s about time we get going,” he tells the group. He opened the map. “Oh, apparently there’s a blacksmith a little bit south of town.” He looked up at her. “A blacksmith won’t mend those town clothes of your.”
---
Nass knocked on the door of the blacksmiths. A strong looking man answered the door.
“Whaddya’ want?” he asked. “I ain’t interested in your cookies.”
“Sir sir sir,” Froggy said, shoving Nass out of his way. “You haven’t tasted these cookies, you see-” Reve landed a punch on his left cheek.
“You always have to say something, don’t you?” she asked him. Guo moved past Reve and Froggy.
“Sir? We would wonder if you would repair our weapons,” he tells the man.
“What made you think this is a blacksmiths?” the man asked the kid. Guo immediately became intimidated. Leo pushed aside Guo.
“We had a map,” he explained, “that said this was a blacksmiths.” He showed the man the map. The man waved the map away.
“Yeah, yeah,” the man mumbled, “but you see, I gave up blacksmithing.” Leo stared at the man coolly.
“…Are you forbidden to do this?” he asked the man. “We’re not the plain band of traveling kids you find in RPGs. We’re something else.” A dark aura slowly enveloped the young man. The man looked at Leo.
“…I see. You’re one of those.” The man rubbed his neck. “Well I guess I can repair your equipment.” Reve stopped assaulting Froggy and looked at the man.
“You will?” she asks.
“Your leader gave a hard argument,” he said. Leo walked forward until he was standing next to the man.
“I’m not the leader,” he said coldly.
Leo stood against the wall, still wearing his robe. He had taken off the armor he wore underneath the robe to be repaired. Nass was amazed.
“How can a robe cover that armor without making your look all bulky?” he asked. Leo blinked and turned his eyes to Nass.
“…Dunno,” he replied. He looked around the outer room. “Where are the others?”
“Oh, Guo went on lookout,” Nass explains, “we can never be too sure that we’re being followed. Froggy went exploring the woods around here. You can say that he’s scouting.”
“And Reve?” Leo asks.
“She’s using the can,” Nass said. The blacksmith, named Aldon, walked in holding an armor of silver plating with green and blue clothing.
“It’s repaired,” he tells Leo. “Impressive I must say. It’s rather powerful and built for defense. Who upgraded it for you?”
“A man in a town far away,” Leo replies. The armor slowly disappeared. Nass looked surprised. “Don’t be. In Erinn, equipping body equipment can be done, even while wearing a robe.”
“Odd but OK…,” he replied in a mumble. Reve walked into the room.
“What is up?” she asked before she yawns.
“Nothing,” Leo said. He tossed a sheathed sword to her. “Weapons are done fixing though.” She casually catches the sword with one hand and strapped the sword onto her back. Aldon nudges for Leo to follow him.
In the room where Aldon does his smithing, he shows Leo a black box.
“In this box, something might be interesting for you,” Aldon says. “But I never been able to open it, due to the dark aura lurking around the box. No matter how hard I try, this box refuses to open. Maybe someday, you can open this box.”
Leo walked over and grabs the lock. He tears it off and opened the box. Aldon stared blankly at Leo. “Or maybe you open it today…” Leo lifts out a small black rock in the shape of a sword.
“Black matter…,” he whispers. “In the shape of a sword. Human’s anger and sorrow. Why would you want me to have this, a weapon of destruction?”
“If anyone, a Dark Knight can handle this,” Aldon tells him.
“…I’m no longer a Dark Knight,” Leo whispered. “I gave up that path, in order to protect those who are dear to me.” He starts to return the black matter but Aldon waves his hand away.
“Keep it,” he tells the kid. “You may find use for it in the near future.”
---
“Enjoy your nature walk?” Guo asked Froggy.
“Yep, I found a good quiet area to relax. There was an apple tree and it was pretty quiet. It was such a relaxing area that I started to read some of my magazines and before you knew it, I-” Froggy was cut off by Reve.
“Keep the conversation for kids man,” she tells him. “Man, sometimes you’re so disgusting.”
“What makes you say that?” he questioned with an innocent face.
“Ate any apples?” the young child asked. The one in green opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue.
“They weren’t ripe.”
“I see.”
The un-proclaimed leader of the group exited the backroom, with a piece of string tied around his neck, a black rock hanging on the end. He took notice of Guo immediately.
“I thought you were keeping look out,” the red head said.
“Nass took over,” the younger child replied. He pulled down rim of his straw hat over his eyes. An explosion took place a few seconds afterwards.
“What the heck was that?!” Reve cried out. The spearman ran into the small building.
“Roprifles,” he gasped. “They have guns. Big guns.” Leo turned to Froggy.
“You have a sniper rifle. Use it.”
“Uh… The barrel’s jammed,” Froggy said, rubbing his hand behind his head.
“I wonder with what…,” the female in the group muttered with a serious look. Leo snatched the gun from Froggy. He flipped a small switch on the gun.
“Safety’s off,” he said coldly.
“Uh, right.” Froggy left the building, a little red.
“Why don’t we just get out of here?” Nass asked. Reve grabbed the kid’s shoulders.
“If we leave, they’ll force Aldon to talk. And we don’t want that, do we?” The aura she was letting off wasn’t a good one.
“Uh, no. No we don’t.” Leo stepped up.
“Then we have to fortify this place. Hold off the attack.”
“Didn’t I say they had big guns? I mean, REALLY big guns.” Leo turned his gaze to Nass.
“I don’t care.”
The river was cool and gave the group some fresh water. After taking a nice drink of water, Froggy turned to Leo.
