Heh, no need to worry, Vicelin, you aren't the only one pissed off at things.
To add another rant to the equation, I just want to post my last bit of anger at el capitan del SUCKASS, just to vent out my last bit of current steam.
To be honest, I don't know the captain, the head of the old republic(aka the first mmotales) that well, so I'm really going by what I hear. Despite this, from the many people that agree on this, I am disappointed by it.
Captain, or should I say, private, you really disappointed....no, ANGERED me with what happened. I don't care what your reasons are for this. Your actions in disbanding the site without telling a single soul for rather vague reasons were unkind, selfish, and totally irresponsible. It just sickens me the way someone can take such a well-developed, popular intranet communal gathering and just throw it away like a piece of trash. Now I don't know what you were thinking when you did this, but it certainly wasn't in line with what we were thinking. You want to know what I was thinking of the day I discovered this atrocity? I was thinking about what reviews I'd get for chapter 36 of my fanfic. Now, thanks to you, that and other stupendous works of fiction are, unless backed up by other sites, gone forever.
Yeah, I know, I should've backed mine up. The thought didn't occur to me, so the story loss is somewhat on my shoulders, too. However, that's mainly because I had no foretelling of anyone choosing to give mmotales the dirtnap, especially doing it without telling anyone. Sorry we aren't all psychics, captain. We just had other things on our minds, like Maple Story, and the WEBSITE!
All I can say is, to this day and for many days after, I was, am, and will be stunned at what came to pass. Cap, when you took down that site without so much as a whisper to anyone, you took away something of a home for us. You destroyed a special gathering that brought together online gamers, a place where they could describe their days, swap stories, debate, laugh....basically, it was like one big happy family for us...at least it was for me, considering the absolutely wonderful friends I made throughout my time there.
Of course, while we lost the original and are looking around for ways to restore it, there was one thing you never took from us, and certainly never will: our determination. We banded together and made a new home on the proboards. It isn't as pretty, and it certainly isn't the original, but it's still a home to me, and likely to the others. Here, we'll pick up where we left off: we'll talk about things, play games, laugh the day away, rant....basically, we'll persevere. Scratch that, we ARE perservering. We have a new site, and even if it takes years to get the last one back, this one'll remain powerful and prosperous.
So fie on you, craptain, for what you did back there. You have earned my ire forevermore for what was done. You took the miser's path and brought us down with it. Still, that doesn't matter anymore, as we have a new site where we'll reunite as a community. Nothing will break us, no matter what. I hope this teaches you a lesson, captain: never try to destroy what you never truly created on your own.
That's my piece, and likely my last. Make whatever comments you want, I'm pretty much done with this issue.
