[Ch1] Awakening.
... Mari...! Watch out...!
"Ack!" he cried. He sat straight up and clutched his chest.
"Morgant! Ruairi's awake!"
Ruairi looked up to see who had spoken. In front of him was a girl.
"Where am I? " he asked. "Where's Mari and Tarlach?!" He got up, but a sudden pain ripped through his body. He clutched his chest and gasped for air.
"No Ruairi," the girl said, "you must not strain yourself! My name is Triona. You may not know it but you've been asleep for several years."
Ruairi had no choice but to sit back down. He looked at his surroundings. It was dark and damp. Skulls littered the room. The light was provided by a campfire and a chandiller overhead. Behind him was a locked door.
"...Is this a dungeon?" he asked aloud. He turned to the girl who called herself Triona. "Are you a Fomor? You don't seem like one..."
The girl was silent. Ruairi was taken back that this child could be a Fomor.
"...I'll bring you something to eat Ruairi."
Triona got up and walked out of the room. Ruairi laid down and tried to remember what had happened. Mari, Tarlach, and himself were in Tir Na Nog. They were searching for the Goddess and she ordered the Dark Lord to kill them. He didn't remember anything after that.

"Here Ruairi," Triona said, placing some food in front of Ruairi. He glared at her and turned his head.
"Forget it. I'm not eating the food of the Fomors."
"But Ruairi, you must eat something. And the food I made is good for a human."
"Look," he said as he stood up. "I'm just here to thank Morgant for saving my life. After that, I'm out of here and I want no part of you or the Fomors."
"...Is that what you think of me Ruairi?" Triona asked. Tears came into her eyes. "I'm not accepted by the Fomors because I look human. And the humans don't accept me because I'm a Fomor. I... I thought you would appreciate me for taking care of you for all these years..."
Ruairi stared at the child. "...Whatever."

"...Ru...Ruairi? Morgant's here," Triona said.
"...Alright," Ruairi replied.
"Triona, stay outside," a voice said. Ruairi turned and was shocked at the person who saved his life. It was the Dark Lord.
"You!" Ruairi shouted. He ran toward the Dark Lord and threw a fist. Morgant dodged the punch and push Ruairi to the ground. "Why did you save my life?! Why did you saved mines but took my friend's theirs?!"
"Calm down Ruairi," Morgant said calmly. "You're in no condition to fight. And to answer your question, there was something about you. Something about how you risked your life to save the little girl's."
Ruairi thought back to the conflict in Tir Na Nog. He shielded Mari from Morgant's sword. "So?"
"So I decided to spare your life and go against the Goddess," Morgant replied. "But you cannot leave."
"What?! Why?!"
"If you leave... You'll surely die. I will take you outside when you are ready."
Ruairi ran towards Morgant to try and get past him, but Morgant just grabbed and pushed Ruairi back.
"Think about how the world will respond to you."
Morgant left and Ruairi breathed heavily. He sat down in front of the fire and starred into it's roaring flames.

Ruairi stood up. "I'm out of here." Triona's eyes grew.
"But Ruairi-"
"Not another word Triona... Thank you... For taking care of me."
Triona stood up. "Ruairi, I'll come with you!"
Ruairi was taken back by her remark. "...Whatever."
They both started walking around the halls of the dungeon. Kobolds looked at the two passing by but took no interest. There was a light at the end of one of the corridors.
"I think that's the way out," Ruairi said. "Go back Triona."
"Ruairi?" she asked.
"I... I don't think I can protect you out there. I... I couldn't protect Tarlach or Mari... I don't think I can protect you either."
"...Ruairi..." Triona turned around and started walking back. She stopped, and tried to say something to Ruairi, but she stopped and continued walking back. Ruairi looked down and then to his back. He turned forward again.
"...Sorry... Triona..."
***
"Help!"
Ruairi recognized the voice immediatly. He turned. "Triona?" Ruairi started walking forward but he hastened into a sprint through the maze. He found several corpses of Kobolds and rats. At last, he came to the room where he had awakened.
"What's going on?" he asked. The humans standing over Triona turned to look at him. They were Paladin students.
"It's... It's the lord's doppleganger!" a student cried.
"I'm... A doppleganger?" Ruairi asked.
"No... It's not possible..." one of the students whispered.
"What are you talking about Rainofsorrow? We have to stop the Fomor!"
... Mari...! Watch out...!
