Part 1:
Many footsteps echoed through the streets of Kaineng City, leading out from the narrow alleyways of Bukdek Byway into the more expansive skyways. A pack of dark-dressed thieves, all wielding various weapons that ranged from bows and daggers to staves and wands, were on a rampage as they chased after a lone figure. The inhabitants of these poor-looking parts of the city, mostly peasants, gazed at the scene with various levels of interest. None of them dared to intervene, however, not even on behalf of the one being hunted. Everyone who knew the run-down parts of Kaineng knew who the men in dark clothing were. They were the Am Fah, a group of ruthless thieves and assassins known for their numerous misdeeds all over the captial city of Cantha.
The one being chased, a woman with hair as purple in color as the tight-fit clothing she wore, managed to keep a good pace ahead of her persuers, even though the chase lasted through the entirety of Bukdek and many of the skyways. Her clothing, a midriff top and pants ensemble, was decorated with metal, though not from any jewelry. Rather, these decorations were a wide assortment of knives, stored in packs which were strapped on her shoulders, forearms, the sides of her legs, and her belt. To the people who watched this event, she looked as though she could easily take on a mob as big as the one chasing her right now, though Vizu herself knew better. No vast array of weapons at her disposal were as much of a threat as a team of underhanded killers trained in numerous forms of combat.
Despite this disadvantage, Vizu decided to let her assailants know she wasn't at all helpless as she appeared. In an attempt to widen the gap between herself and the Am Fah, the assassin broke into a short but mad dash, burning up energy for a strong burst of speed. Three seconds later, assured of her extended lead, she broke down her run by jumping in the air, spinning herself so she was positioned facing the thieves in mid-air. At that moment, she sent out her attack with a whip of her arm-a trio of daggers spinning down toward the hostile group. The entire bladed trio struck home, each hitting the up-front thief. Though they all dressed alike, the unfortunate victim had been holding a holy-looking cry. With an agonized cry, he fell to the ground, left behind by all the others. Vizu couldn't help but chuckle at herself, even as she kept herself moving by rolling on the pavement upon landing from her jump, spinning herself back up to her feet and back in her run. From the look of the staff the bandit had been carrying, she was certain she'd felled the party healer. She couldn't celebrate yet, though; she remembered from the beginning of the chase that five Am Fah had been hunting her down. Four still remained; the odds were still against her.
Author's note-Alright, I hate to say it, but this is less than I planned to write. However, I better stop here for now, since I'm a bit out of it tonight. Good thing I had this put together on another compy.
I'm splitting each chapter I write into parts. It'll be easier for me, since I won't have to try to fit every blasted bit into a single post, and I think it'll make each thread, which'll hold each chapter, that much more interesting. I'm cutting things off on a cliffhanger here.
Next post, I'll definitely try to put more effort into this; make a bigger chunk of the chapter. Sorry about all this, folks, but at least I'm finally getting this off the ground for once!^^;
