Many Generations ago,
Evil walked the shores of Cantha.
It rode the wind and stalked in the shadows…
Waiting for the right moment…to strike.
Cantha was a great kingdom, filled with great mystery and wonder, a distinct land with its own flavor distinct from the other nearby lands of Tyria and Elona. This continent was a land teeming with life, filled with bustling people; adventurers, governmental figures, members of great factions, and everyone else in between. Creatures of wonder and danger alike roamed the wild, grassy fields of green, which in turn were decorated with bright lotus trees. Large cities stood as bastions of civilization, each with its own range of buildings, from simple, boxy homes to grand, towering pagodas. With its tranquil style of life, beauty to be seen through its lands, and people of various statuses to know, Cantha was a land teeming with a life of its own.
Of course, it used to be a peaceful land long ago, especially during the reign of Emperor Angsiyan. The emperor himself made efforts to promote peace even further by working to bring an end to a personal war that had ran strong in years past. Through his wisdom and diplomatic efforts, the war between two great factions known as the Kurzicks, druidic people of law and insight from Echovald Forest, and the Luxons, a nomadic collection of clans that sailed the Jade Sea, was brought to an end. With this move that brought the factions into the fold of the main Imperial government, spirits were now higher than ever, especially with the upcoming Harvest Festival, a time where the people thanked the gods for a bountiful harvest.
Unfortunately, hardly anyone would ever realize until too late that this peace would be very brief. More than that, the face of Cantha-and the people’s very way of life-would be changed forever…
Guild Wars: A Sinful Traitor’s Wrath
Notes: Alright, guys, I know a lot of you are probably getting sick of waiting. The good news is, I'm finally getting the opening chapter underway. The bad news is, as useful as it is to help me stay true to the game in terms of the storyline, my continuing progress in beating Guild Wars is kinda putting itself at the top of my brain for me. ^^; Apologies, I'll remedy that. Most likely it'll be a chapter a week, if I can keep myself writing. In the meantime, enjoy this little intro that I made to the story. The official guidebook to the game helped me come up with some of the info.
2 more things:
1. Any GW fan should know which campaign I'm fanficing.
2. The first four lines in italics are, word-for-word, the first four lines spoken during the game's cinematic. I have goo ears.
