When you comment on your own blog, it should highlight, or color your name, or something. Sorta like YouTube. Also, when people comment, there could be a little thing denoting if they liked the blog. Maybe thumbs up/down on posts too, and the post gets hidden/deleted if it gets too many thumbs downs.
Image and spoiler tags. Much better than links and the uploading thing.
Multiple themes/layouts? Shouldn't be too hard with a bit of CSS. We could have one resembling the old site for people who liked it, and add others we could choose from.
I second the search feature. If possible, maybe an advanced search with a buncha options. Like, if I wanted to find Rakion rants that contained "mage" in the title, or Maple fanfics that Silver liked. Lol.

Thumbs down? Guys, I think we should think about the community. With the thumbs down there could be lots of problems, like if someone doesn't like you or there's a bunch of spammers that sign up. And I'm pretty sure the only blogs that would need to be deleted are things that are spam which we will obviously notice. Also, sometimes when new people start blogging they suck and they will eventually get better. I think that discourages members from joining too.
It's alright to debate some ideas right? Don't you guys think the main thing about this site was that it was a great hangout place? I don't want it to be a popular contest, I get enough of that in school and stuff. For me 'likes' were only indicators that I used so I could know if I was doing better or worse, comparing with myself.

Definitely keep the 'like' system, or even better, turn it into a favorites system, like how you can +fav a deviation on deviantart...so that when I really like a blog and want to go back to it months later, I don't have to dig for hours. And the idea of multiple layouts is great. So that stubborn simple-minded people like myself can enjoy the old one while everyone else goes 2.0 D:< And I'll join you in your 'debate', dame Don't you guys think the main thing about this site was that it was a great hangout place? The forums always felt like more of a hang-out than the blogs. The blogs were meant to be literate, comprehensive personal experiences/fanfics/comics. I liked the separation between the two. I don't want it to be a popular contest, I get enough of that in school and stuff.Every user-based website becomes a popularity contest in the end. It's unavoidable, and not going to change, just like it never will in school-settings either, so don't even bother. The only way to cope with it is to just be yourself and not worry about popularity. People with charisma and personality on the internet will get popular, and most of the time they have earned it, so no point in bothering to discredit them. For me 'likes' were only indicators that I used so I could know if I was doing better or worse, comparing with myself.Well, that's common sense. And what they are supposed to be used for in the first place. Ok I'm done.

Being able to save your blogs as a draft would be a fantastic feature to throw in. Even though I wouldn't need it because I save everything on Word, I'm sure a lot of people could've used it on the old MMOT.

If we go with so unlimited space hoster, it wouldn't be a problem. However, if we get someone we know to host it, it'll cost them $$$. Edit: Not to mention slow down the site too.

I say no for thumbs down on anything.
Its like a concerted effort to shut people's comments and blogs off just because they don't like what they are hearing.
Just keep it a "i like" or a "thumbs up" system.
ALSO, site has to be relatively /b/proof

However, it felt like Captain was working for the FCC and the entire site was rated G. There should definitely be an option to turn off swear filters and make things more PG-13, because srsly; kids below that age have to ask parents before joining sites anyway. I think to solve this we could ask for ages/birthdays at registration and then prevent anyone from modifying it in their profile. Then, we could have bloggers choose an option when posting their blog what people at what age can view that particular blog. That way, we have a legitimate censor that prevents young'ns from seeing too much, and old'ns from seeing what they wanna see.

Wouldn't that make kids lie about their ages?
